Easter Events Near Lewes, Haywards Heath, Uckfield and Sussex

The Easter Holidays are approaching fast! Here are some ideas to keep your little ones entertained this Easter!


Wakehurst Kew Gardens

Runs from 30th March to the 23rd of April, 10.30 am to 5.30 pm. With special early entry from 9 am for members on selected days. Wakehurst Kew Gardens, Ardingly, Haywards Heath, Sussex, RH17 6TN

Superworm is coming to Wakehurst this Easter holidays. The evil Wizard Lizard has lost his magical flower. Can you help Superworm and his friends find it before the Wizard Lizard does? Interactive activities and sculptures will bring the trail to life – you’ll need to enlist the help of Superworm’s friends to point you in the right direction, but watch out for that Crow! A really fun Easter activity in Sussex and not an Easter bunny in sight!

You do not need to book the trail in advance and the trail is included with the price of your ticket. Adults cost £14.95, young people aged 17-25 £7.50 with children aged 16 and under free with a paying adult. Entry is free if you are a National Trust member. Although you still need to pay £10 for parking.


Leonardslee Gardens

Open throughout the Easter holidays from 9 am to 4 pm with the last admission at 2.30, Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens, Brighton Road, Lower Beeding, RH13

Lenardslee Gardens are running several different events over Easter. Including children’s magic shows on the 1st and 4th of April. Shaun the Sheep model-making workshop on the 2nd of April. Model boats in the beautiful lakes on the 15th and 16th of April. Both the magic shows and the model-making workshops need to be booked in advance. Prices vary please see the website for more details.

£14.50 for adults, £6.50 for children a family ticket for one adult is £26 and for two £37.50. Under 5s are free.


Drusillas Zoo Park

Open throughout the Easter Holdays, 10 am to 5 pm, Alfriston Rd, East Sussex BN26 5QS

There is so much going on at Drusillas Park and they are adding to it over the Easter holidays with a visit from Bluey and Bingo on the 12th April. The duo will be making an appearance throughout the day in the event space. For this super fun easter activity in Sussex. There is also a new retro-style arcade. Located in their newly renovated House of Fun, gamer fans are invited to enjoy free unlimited turns on their awesome arcade machines. Along with over 80 animals to observe, indoor play areas, outdoor play areas, an adventure maze, a whole host of rides and Spark the new interactive sensory space. You will need a whole day at these top attractions.

If you book tickets in advance you will save 20%. For everyone over the age of 2, tickets are £26.40 with a discount. Those aged 60+ are £24.40 with under 2s free.


The Observatory Science Centre- Hailsham - Easter Activities

Fun with Chemistry runs on the 11th of April, Discover Chemistry is running on the 12th of April, Astronaut academy is on the 4th of April and Rocket Science is on the 5th of April. For each event and day, there are two sessions one at 10.30 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 4.30 pm. There is a session for each age group and it costs £14.95 per child. The Observatory Science Centre, Herstmonceux, Hailsham, BN27 1RN

The Observatory has several different Easter activities in Sussex running throughout the Easter holidays. Including two different workshops on chemistry, the astronaut academy and rocket science. One for 6-8-year-olds and one 9-11-year-olds. All sessions need to be booked online in advance via the website.

Prices are £10.95 for an adult, £8.95 for a child and £35 for a family of 4 or £42 for a family of 5. Children under 4 are free.


Blackberry Farm Park

1st to 16th of April from 10 am to 5 pm, Blackberry Farm, Whitesmith, Lewes, East Sussex, BN8 6JD

There will be a series of Easter-themed activities at Blackberry Farm over the holidays. There will be farm-hatched chicks and ducklings, kid goats, baby rabbits and guinea pigs as well as farm-born piglets and lambs. There is also an Easter egg trail which through the egg-themed maze to win a treat at the end. Including indoor and outdoor play areas, tractor rides, animal handling, pony rides, and a whole host of farm animals. There is something for the entire family.

Tickets can be booked online in advance up until 9 am on the day of arrival. If not you can buy them at the gate. Tickets for Blackberry Farm Park are £12.50 per person for those aged two and above. Pony rides can be booked upon arrival.


Knockhatch Adventure Park

Open throughout the Easter Holidays – 10 am to 5.30 pm, Knockhatch Adventure Par, Hailsham Bypass, Hailsham, BN27 3GD

There is so much to do, although be aware that some of the activities do have additional costs associated with them. Here are dome of the activities on offer:

The paid-for activities which re available during school holidays are Bungee Trampolines – £3.99, Go Karts – £4.99 per kart per go, Mini Diggers – £1.00 per go and Mini Quads – £1.00 per go. A great way to spend the day.

Sharnfold Farm

Open throughout the Easter holidays- 9.30 am to 4 pm, Hailsham Road, Stone Cross, Eastbourne, BN24 5BU

Visit Sharnfold Farm this Easter for all the usual fun on the farm. There is a play area and farm trail where you can meet all the animals. Including pigs, cows, chickens, sheep and alpacas, Not to mention the farm shop and cafe serving homemade cakes and snacks.

Access to the farm costs £4.95 for anyone over the age of 3, and they have a super saver family ticket – just £16 for a family of 4.


Borde Hill Gardens

The gardens are open throughout the Easter Holidays, Borde Hill Lane, Haywards Heath, West Sussex RH16 1XP

Spot the signs of Spring while following the story trail of Ludo as he prepares to enter the Lamb National Race. Fuel up for your adventures with a delicious Easter-themed treat from the Gardeners’ Retreat Café before letting off steam in the Adventure Playground. The trail costs £4 per child and includes a delicious prize at the end.

Garden admission must also be brought. Booking online in advance is recommended and attracts a 5% discount, adults cost £9.98, children £6.65, with family tickets from £23.75.


National Trust Nymans

The Easter Egg Hunt will run from the 25th of March to the 16th of April from 10 am to 4.30, Nymans, Handcross, near Haywards Heath, West Sussex, RH17 6EB

Nymans is running a Springfest Easter Trail. From blossom trees to bug hotels; butterflies to bluebells – there are lots to see and do on this fun and active Easter trail. £3 per trail with an Easter Egg prize. This is one of the best rated Easter Egg Hunt in Sussex.

Entrance is free for National Trust members, prices without gift aid are £15 for an adult, £7.50 for a child and £37.50 for a family or £22.50 with one adult.


Washbrook Farm

Open 7 days a week throughout the Easter Holiday, Washbrooks Family Farm, Brighton Road, Hurstpierpoint, West Sussex, BN6 9EF

Details of their activities over Easter have not yet been released for 2023, but there will be a family trail and lambs! Keep a check on their website for more information. Washbrooks Family Farm has everything you need, indoor play areas, outdoor play areas, pedal tractors to ride on and plenty of opportunities to get up close to farm animals.

Adults cost £9, children up to 35 months are free, and a group ticket for four costs £30.


National Trust Sheffield Park & Garden Easter Trail

Running from the 1st of April to the 16th of April from 10 am to 5 pm, Sheffield Park, Uckfield, East Sussex, TN22 3QX

This year the Easter trail at Sheffield Park has a duck theme with lots of mallard-inspired activities. It’s the season when the garden comes alive with carpets of daffodils, and woodlands glowing with bluebells and rhododendron blossoms. This Easter Egg trail in Sussex costs £3 each and includes a dairy or a vegan and Free From chocolate egg.

Entrance is free for National Trust members, prices without gift aid are £14 for an adult, £7 for a child and £35 for a family or £21 with one adult.


National Trust Standen House Easter Trail

The trail is running from the 25th of March to the 16th of April from 10 am to 4.30 pm, Standen House, West Hoathly Road, East Grinstead, West Sussex, RH19 4NE

Standen House is running an Easter-themed family trail which is styled around all the fun of the fete. Enjoy traditional activities at each stall including sack races, boules, hook a duck and hula hooping. It will cost £3 per trail including a chocolate egg.

Entrance is free for National Trust members, prices without gift aid are £14 for an adult, £7 for a child and £35 for a family or £21 with one adult.


National Trust Bodiam Castle

From 1-16 April 2023, 10 am to 4 pm, Bodiam Castle, West Hoathly Road, East Grinstead, West Sussex, RH19 4NE

Hop into action and take part in frog-themed activities at Bodiam Castle this Easter. As you make your way along the trail you’ll find nature-inspired activities for the whole family. Find out a frog’s superpower and listen out for frog sounds as you explore the castle and grounds. Read more.

The trail sheet costs £3 per child and includes a chocolate egg. Entrance is free for National Trust members, prices without gift aid are £11 for an adult, £5.50 for a child and £27.50 for a family or £16.50 with one adult.


National Trust Batemans Easter Egg Hunt

1st of April to the 16th of April from 10 am to 4 pm although the car park opens at 9 am, National Trust Batemans, Bateman’s Lane, Burwash, East Sussex, TN19 7DS

As you make your way along the trail, join in with Edwardian children’s games that the Kipling children might have played, get stuck into creative activities and enjoy the blossom and blooms in the spring garden. £3 per trail with an Easter Egg prize.

Entrance is free for National Trust members, prices without gift aid are £15.40 for an adult, £7.70 for a child and £38.50 for a family or £23.10 with one adult.


Wildness Woods

1st of April to the 16th of April from 10 am to 4 pm,Main Road, Hadlow Down, East Sussex, TN22 4HJ

Follow the traditional bunny trail around the woods – can you solve the woodland anagram? Find spring poems, nestled amidst the trees. Open every day for walks and refreshments from The Hatch, with activities for all ages. More details to follow on their website.

Admission for non-members for walks and picnics in the wood is £4 per person or £15 for a household, payable at The Hatch.


Coombes Farm – Lambing Event

Lambing season is running from the 11th of March to April 16th, Coombes Farm, Coombes Rd, Lancing BN15 0RS

A 1000-acre working farm, there will be 800 ewes lambing and 50 Sussex cows calving. It is possible to see them being born and also hopefully, feed some of the pet lambs. Take a walk in the fields and enjoy this traditional Easter event in Sussex.

Tickets can be booked in advance, £5 for an adult and £4 for a child. If you buy your tickets at the gate they cost an additional £1 each. It is also possible to book a tractor ride on the day for £4 each.


Lambing at Middle Farm

Saturday 1 April 2023 to Bank Holiday Monday 1 May 2023, Middle Farm, West Firle, Lewes BN8 6LJ

Celebrate the start of the farming year with Spring Lambing at Middle Farm. See our newborn lambs and join in the fun of bottle-feeding. See what’s going on down on the farm with timed events throughout the day. We do always try to visit a farm for lambing as it’s such a traditional Easter event in Sussex. Head to their website for more useful information.

Tickets must be booked in advance for either a morning or an afternoon slot. The farm is open from 10 am to 4.30 pm. Tickets cost £8 per person with under 3s and carers being free. Morning runs from 10 am to 1 pm and afternoon from 1 pm to 4.30 pm. A full schedule of events is on their website to help decide which session is best for you.
