Halloween Events and Pumpkin Picking near Lewes, East Sussex


It’s that time of year again, when days are getting shorter and there’s a chill in the air. So, as we approach Halloween, what is there around the local area to occupy the little ones?


Pumpkin Picking:

Pumpkin carving is always a big hit, and your small people will love going out into a field to choose their own pumpkins. Here are some local pumpkin patches!


Poynings pumpking patch

Popular pick-your-own Poynings Pumpkin Patch is to open its fields once again this weekend ahead of Halloween 2022 celebrations. Families and pumpkin pickers have been invited to the scenic South Downs site. Poynings Pumpkin Patch’s opening hours are 10am to 4pm and the first chance pickers will have to visit is from this Saturday (October 1) and Sunday (October 2). The patch will then open again on the following two weekends - October 8 and 9 and October 15 and 16.


Tulley’s Pick Your Own

A little bit further out but well worth the trip is Tulley’s Pumpkin patch near Crawley.

It’s perfect for a family day, team day or even a cute date, there’s something very special about picking your own pumpkins. Keep your eyes peeled for live roaming characters whilst you pick your pumpkins!


Tulley’s Pumpkins is open now until the 30th October.

Halloween Events near Lewes & Sussex:

Tulleys Shocktober Event 30th Sept to 5th Nov

Probably the best-known Halloween Event in Sussex. A series of different scary and haunted attractions mainly aimed at teenagers and adults. As stated earlier they do have daytime pumpkin picking for the younger ones with more sensibly themed photo opportunities.


While Tulleys Shocktober Event covers 11 different attractions with various actors whose only mission is to freak you out! Including street theatre, clowns at the electric circus, towns, islands, prisons and so much immersive scenery you will wonder if you are still in Crawley. Running now for over 25 years it is extremely popular. With a licensed bar and craft beers.

Fishers Farm Park – Halloween Happy Hauntings - 22nd October to 30th October 10 am to 5 pm

An event geared for the whole family, the park has a general Halloween theme throughout the farm park. There will be decorating pumpkins and Halloween iced biscuits activities and more. There is also the ghost train which takes you through a spooky tunnel. And new for this year is the ‘Little Boo Barn’ to see magical creatures and enchanting sights. Finish the day by taking part in the spooktacular family disco and dance the monster mash.


RM Events – Dr Frankenslime’s Spooktacular Halloween - 26th and 27th of October at 11 am

What – A spooky theatre show, where the mad doctor will make spooky chemical reactions in his laboratory using gas, water and even fire. Aimed at children from 4-8 the show is filled with laughs and impressive science experiments. Includes some audience participation. Blackberry Farm Park - 22nd of October to the 30th of October, open 9 am to 5 pm

There will be a Scarecrow Tractor Trail with an anagram to spot for a tasty treat from the driver. A pumpkin patch and pumpkin carving, a mystery maze and a bump-in-the-night barrel ride. A spooky egg hung will give you a trick or a treat. Facepainting will also be available. Along with all the Halloween activities, Blackberry Farm Park also offers a variety of activities and animal talks to keep little ones interested throughout the day. Including indoor and outdoor play areas, tractor rides, animal handling, pony rides, and a whole host of farm animals. Drusillas Park Shriek Week - October half term 22nd October to 30th October, 10 am to 5 pm

Always one of the favourite Halloween Events in Sussex for little ones, there is so much going on, including pumpkins and decorations all over the park and a selection of Halloween sweet treats. There is Haunted Heights which is a live-action haunted house experience. Full of cobwebs and hocus pocus. Goulish face painting is also available. Mungo the mummy is waiting to meet you in the terror maze. On selected dates, there is also a sugar skull witch gliding around the park. Borde Hill Gardens – A Haunting Halloween Trail - 15th of October to the 31st of October

Discover some of the characters who live at Foolish Mortal Mansion on this spooky Garden trail to find out what Sir Haunt-A-Lot is seeking so that he can finally rest in peace. The trial is suitable for children aged 3-8 years. The trial costs an additional £3.50 per child. Each child will receive a prize at the end. https://www.bordehill.co.uk/events/


Wakehurst – Room on the Broom -15th of October to the 30th of October, 10 am to 5 pm

Sarnfold Farm

Visit Sarnfold Farm for their Spooktacular Halloween family friendly event, including all the usual fun on the farm PLUS Spooky themed trail and activities. Dressing up and getting into the spirit of Halloween is highly recommended and a prize for the best costume will be awarded!
