Autumn is here and the nights are drawing in… which means that Halloween is just around the corner! If you are looking for a bit of Halloween fun for you and the kids, here are some of the best Halloween events in Sussex this year.
Poynings pumpking patch
Popular pick-your-own Poynings Pumpkin Patch is to open its fields once again this year ahead of Halloween 2023 celebrations. Poynings Pumpkin Patch’s opening hours are 10am to 4pm.
Tulley’s Pick Your Own
The Tulley’s pumpkin fields are located in the picturesque West Sussex countryside. This year they have planted over 600,000 seeds over 100 acres and have produced over 1 million Pumpkins & Gourds!
Take your pick from knobbly ones, wrinkly ones, different shapes and sizes, there is a bountiful supply of shiny pumpkins, quirky gourds and lumpy squashes. Whether you want to carve a ghoulish face, make a delicious pie or decorate your house with unusual gourds. There is an ideal pumpkin for everyone!

Latchetts farm
Visit Latchetts farm for a great pumpkin picking experience! The patch is open 7th & 8th, 14th & 15th, 21st - 29th October. No booking needed just turn up and pay on the gate!
Tulleys Shocktober Event
Probably the best-known Halloween Event in Sussex. Prepare for a night you won’t forget, as Tulleys Shocktober Fest returns in 2023 celebrating over 25 years of screams.
Be ready for a night filled with dazzling special effects, immersive scenery, live actors, great food and amazing atmosphere!
Fishers Farm Park Halloween Happy Hauntings 21 Oct - 29 October
Make no bones about it, Fishers Farm Park’s Halloween Happy Hauntings is a fun family day out that puts the fang in fang-tastic!
‘LITTLE BOO BARN’
They have “sugar’n’spiced” things up this year with the perfect event for all little monsters. Brace yourselves for some innovative, interactive family-fun as you tip-toe into the mystical ‘Little Boo Barn’
Meander through the weird and wonderful, experiencing giggles and thrills on the way! Join in with singing pumpkins and enjoy a not-so-scary Halloween adventure for your teenie-Halloweenies.
Is it a trick, or a treat? Be prepared to oohhh and ahhh at our mystic-magicians in the daily magic shows.
Dare to ride the mysterious Ghost Tunnel? It’s a funny, but spooky ride with an educational twist!
Too cute to spook? Please don’t worry if you’re not the Halloween kind – there will be lots of other half-term fun on offer this school holidays. Jump aboard the Fishers Express train; come and give the cute farm animals some warm and friendly cuddles in the Animal Encounters Barn; or dare to take the leap from the high jump at Skyfall.
Blackberry Farm Park – 21st of October to the 29th of October
This year the halloween activities include a scarecrow trail tractor ride!! Look out for letters along your journey they will make a Halloween word. At the end of the ride tell the driver the anagram to receive a treat.
There is also a Pumpkin Patch where you can choose the perfect Halloween pumpkin for £4.75 per pumpkin. Pumpkin Carving is also availble– for just £9.75 you can pick your pumpkin, draw the face and carve with the team. Take home your very own carved pumpkin without having to clean up the mess (A parents dream!)
The Bump in the Night Barrell Bug Ride will also be running each day. Brave the bump in the night barrel bug ride. Riders must be over 3 years old and have their own seat.
If that isn’t enough already, there is also have a spooky egg hunt in the Mystery Maze. Look for the hidden Halloween themed eggs in order to win a trick OR treat!
Spooky Face painting will be available each day.
Drusillas Park Shriek Week 2023- October half term 21st October to 29th October
Always one of the favourite Halloween Events in Sussex for little ones, there is so much going on, including pumpkins and decorations all over the park and a selection of Halloween sweet treats. There is Haunted Heights which is a live-action haunted house experience. Full of cobwebs and hocus pocus. Goulish face painting is also available. Mungo the mummy is waiting to meet you in the terror maze. On selected dates, there is also a sugar skull witch gliding around the park.
Borde Hill Gardens – Academy of Witches and Wizards - 14th of October to the 31st of October
This Halloween half term come and join the Borde Hill Academy of Witches & Wizards to help Sapphire the Witch’s Cat regain her magical powers on a bewitching story trail full of spells, potions and mystery.
From 14th to 31st October, all budding witches and wizards, aged 3 to 8 years old, are invited to explore the Garden and take on the fun challenges in their very own Spell Book. Work together as a team to restore Sapphire’s magical powers, just in time for the Borde Hill Crystal Ball extravaganza!
As you follow the trail, you’ll find interactive games and family-friendly activities that will keep you entertained every step of the way, before meeting Head Witch, Magica de Spell to receive a spellbinding prize.
To join the adventure, it’s free for Members, or just £4 per child plus Garden admission.
Sharnfold Farm – Fang-Tastic Halloween – 21st -29th October
With Halloween is on its way - a fang-tastic family event awaits you at Sharnfold Farm. Visit the farm trail for all the usual activities and animals they have to offer, with a spooky twist. Look out for got witches, wizards, ghosts, ghouls, vampires and monsters all roaming the farm, waiting to be found by the visitors.
Pumpkin carving in the Sussex Barn is included in the ticket price.
